art & beauty

so i have had a craft project looming over my head, oh , for the past sixish months. but no more! the project involved an old wooden window that my brother(thanks lance!) found for me! i had this vision of using chalk board paint to paint the windows...then i would have a handy dandy chalk board out of a recycled window!

artsy fartsy

remember the last post mentioning a craft project that needed some tweaking? well, here is the finished product!

it is a magazine holder!!! as you can tell, those are magazines. i have used it for other things! you know it's important to organize your flat irons and curling irons! but i am sure that it would make a great magazine holder as well.

i have other art ideas in the pipe line. i will keep you posted!

-been more crafty(pictures below)!
-read more!
-had an interview!
now i just need to find myself a date and the year will be complete!

nothing like spending a saturday night in front of this machine.
i will have to post a picture of the finished project at a later date. it just needs some tweaking.

south of the mason-dixon line

this past weekend i made a trip down south. to ar-can-saw to be exact.

i got to visit with my friend patsy and to get away from columbia. i was needing to clear my head. funny thing though, i came back with my head stopped up from allergies!

i realized a few things during the trip:
1. the drive is super long.
2. i sound like a yankee down there.
3. i really miss friends but oh so thankful that i can make these quick trips to see them.

in other news, i have been super crafty recently and this next project i have to really do some thinkin' about. i have this old window that i would like to restore a bit and somehow use it as decoration. but i just don't know how to work with it or really what i want done with it. so i will keep thinkin' about it. suggestions are welcomed.

well i am off to chug some OJ and take some benadryl. sweet dreams!

my week in pictures

let me just say, it hasn't been my best week. i felt really defeated in a particular area in my life for most of the week. it was eating me alive and i was becoming really bitter and angry. i was not allowing the Lord to be victorious in my life. several people came along side me to encourage me and talk me through it. i am so very thankful for people like that in my life.

the candy bouquet came from mom and pop as a way of encouraging me and trying to make me sweet again...and not a bitter young woman.

the second picture happened today. yep, clyde(my car) took a hit to the face. he has a black eye on his front bumper. a little parking lot mishap. luckily that is the only damage to me or him.

and this is me being crafty. i found this place mat and i LOVED it, but i only found one...and i needed four. i still could not pass this up. so i framed it! yep, i just stuck it in a frame and it looks great in my room!
i am feeling much better in regards to this certain area of life. it has taken a lot of running to the Lord, praying, and reading the Word with a cup of hot tea.

this is the passage that i have been clinging too this week: lamentations 3:1-24. just talking about how this prophet(i don't think we know who it is. maybe jeremiah. correct me if i am wrong.) has gone through a lot and is just feeling beaten up. but he remembers and experiences God's faithfulness.

these are the verses that jump out to me the most:
21 But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope;
22 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness
24 'The LORD is my portion,' says my soul,
'therefore I will hope in him.'

i will cling to these verses. and run to Him.

sew, a needle pulling thread

i moved into a new place about two weeks ago and have been busy covering pillows and making curtains.
ain't she a beaut.

our backdoor was in need of some curtains!

BAM!
maybe i can be the next martha stewart. actually, i wouldn't want to let martha near these because the seams look awful!

apron

so here is my first apron! i am so excited about and proud of myself! it was pretty easy and good practice for me. and a bonus, it only took a yard of fabric!

here are the pockets for it.

and i am modeling it!

as i was sitting down to blog about it, my dog came up to me wanting my attention so i took a picture with him. yes, it does look like i have in a head-lock. he wasn't wanting to take a picture with me.

sew, a needle pulling thread...

so here it is! this is the new hobby and i am so excited, a little intimidated because i have NO clue as to how to use it but i will learn.

but my brother got me some "go green" bags and one of them needed to be stitched up. so i used the new machine and after some work, wah-lah! the bag is ready to be used!

so here is the machine and the "go green" bag!

looking forward to see where the machine takes me...aprons, bags, quilts.....
