magic is in the air...

this weekend has been awesome!

we went on a few excursions to find the magic tree in columbia. the first night was a bust so we found other christmas lights that were up and glowing! but have no fear, we went back the next night to see the magic tree. and of course we had to take pictures along the way.

...at least that is what cookie monster taught me.

and that is what we did this past weekend. the roommates and i made cookies and decorated them. a lot of them. but they were so tasty and so fun to decorate!

i ain't ashamed.

my tree is beautiful with BRIGHT colors. i love him. please excuse the dead poinsettia in the corner of the picture. my dad gave it to me and it was dead before i got it and i am trying to nurse it back to health.

and i ain't ashamed of my couch pouch. it is a combo of a sleeping bag and a snuggie...but boy, it sure keeps me warm. i can tell that you are jealous.

christmas

so 'tis the season of christmas. and with it comes parties! i have one this coming week for work. i am going this year. but let's rewind to last year and the same christmas party. let me set the stage. i was emailing a colleague to rsvp for the party and the following is a conversation with her:

me: i would like to rsvp for the christmas party.

her: okay, how many are coming with you?(which is a legit question.)

me: oh, it is just me!

her: so you are only going rsvp for one?(but really, she had to ask again if i had a guest to bring with me?)

me: yes, just me. only me. by myself.

i just laughed at this conversation and how she was intent on me going with someone.

this year i rsvp'd for two to save the confusion. in order to rsvp for two, i had to write down someone's name because they wear a name tag throughout the evening. i wrote down the name 'george smith' as my guest. i don't know a 'george smith'. but if i do end up bringing someone, they will be wearing a 'george smith' name tag all evening. and that would be something to laugh at.

but, i am looking forward to getting all dressed up!

maybe i can drag my brother there as 'george smith'?!

156 days 'til...

...CHRISTMAS! hard to believe isn't it?

if you know me, you know i LOVE the cheesy christmas music. i normally start listening to christmas music around september. strange, i know. and the movie 'elf'...one of my favorites.

but in other news, this weekend at put-in bay, ohio, it is christmas in july! i am also going to be making an appearance at the cleveland indians game on friday night. i have been told that that night at the ball park, there will be fireworks set to christmas music!

i will also be visiting my long lost sister/friend, jessica. we lived together in poland. she saw the good, the bad, and the ugly of me while living there. she is awesome. it was with her that i learned community 24/7. i wouldn't trade anything for that time while each of us grew on our own, with each other, and with the Lord. precious times. hard times, but precious.

the best way to spread christmas cheer...

...is being an ELF for halloween.  i LOVE christmas.  i love the music.  i love the decorations.  i just love the spirit.  so i thought, why not be something that i love.  an ELF!

it is kind of a blurry picture, but here i am with my aunts on the end(yes i said aunts, i know one of them is dressed to where you can't tell what gender she is!) and my mom in the middle as lilly (if you are familiar with children's books, she came dressed as a lilly from the book 'lilly and her purple plastic purse).

and this little guy is such a stud, but you can not get him stay still.  so here is an action shot of the newest addition to the family.  well, he isn't all that new but he is still pretty new to me as he was born while i was in poland.  but if you can't tell, he was a skunk for halloween.  and he was so cute!
