english....

...fit for a king. some of you might read jessica's blog as well, but i thought i would put up a few pictures myself. so one day last week, we went to teach our english in the city of olsztynek and we were able to teach in the old castle/church/museum.

at the time the museum had a exhibit on the folk clothing of poland. so we toured the exhibit and then taught some english . these are the students.

here is the tour guide telling us about the clothing. she mentioned that when a man and woman were to marry, the woman's wedding gift to the man were 52 shirts made by hand. one for each week of the year!

the students are being very attentive.

this past tuesday, we went into a home of a lady (who would be similar to our mayor) in a village that we teach english. she is very passionate about astronomy. the night was fairly clear and we were able to see mars, saturn, close up of the moon and several different stars( i don't remember their names). but it was so beautiful! it is a rare occasion to see the stars and for it to be really quiet where we live in the city. so it was enjoyed being out in the village for the stars and silence.

I would love to see that museum. Have you started on all of those shirts yet?
